Camping pictures

Nothing like Smores when you are camping!!!

Brooklyn believe it or not wouldn't eat one. She prefers non cooked marshmallows.

This one is for you Dad!!!

Every July, the Berekoff's and Mckelvey's head to Bear Creek camping. We usually go mid July but this year my holidays fell at the beginning of the month so we were there a week early. I was concerned when I made the reservation in April that being a week early the weather may not be so hot. Well, stinkin' hot it was. We have become very good rain weather campers so it was such a treat this year to be able to spend every day down at the beach. We were quite a sight! Wagon, beach toys, and every floatie you could imagine. It was hard to keep us contained. On Sunday, my Dad and Connie came to visit. Dad brought his aluminum fishing boat and I could tell he was excited to get out on the lake with the kids. Cory and Avery were first up and came back 30 min later empty handed. Rachel and Delaney were next up and while they were out the wind and waves came up. They were just about to come in, reeling their rods, when they spotted it, a FISH!!! Turned out to be a 2lb rainbow trout. The look on Delaney's face when they arrived on shore was priceless. I don't know who was happier, Grandpa or Delaney. The excitement on the beach was contagious as all the little kids came to see what was in the bucket. Delaney later wrote in her journal that "I felt like I was famous!" Of course the moment was captured in pictures! The fish was cleaned and cooked up for supper that night. Delaney ate some which surprised me. The kids had a blast camping and Delaney was in tears the day we had to leave. What a difference a year makes with the ages of the kids. Anita and I actually read novels and relaxed. The kids were excellent and played so well, and looked after each other. I can't wait for August when we go to Christina lake.

Have you missed us???

It seems that, with the ever growing popularity of facebook, some of us bloggers have literally dropped out of the blogging world. I am no exception! Although I have been busy keeping up on my blog roll, I am sad to say that I have contributed very little here. This fact has been brought to my attention more than once recently. So I actually do have faithful readers. Well I did. I hope to slowly resurrect this blog if for no one other than my Dad!

More Busyness!

I love this one!

It seems as though it has been forever since I last posted. I have even taken 99 pictures in that time so you would think that I would have a little to say. Last week was busy with both girls finishing their dance year with the final performances. In Summerland that means if you are in ballet you dance all 3 shows plus the rehearsal. Delaney also did Jazz so she had an extra dance to perform. The day of the rehearsal Steve's dad was admitted to hospital with a serious case of pneumonia. He was in ICU for 2 days and then spent another 5 days in hospital. He just came home today. Thankfully he is on the mend. I started my busy 2wks of work on Monday, 4 12hr days this week followed by the same next week. I am so glad this only occurs every 8 wks. Tuesday I took the morning off work to go with Avery's class to the safety village in Penticton. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a minature town complete with roads, stop signs, traffic light etc. It is used to teach young children about bicycle safety. There is also a house to teach about fire safety. A few of the kids in the class had a really hard time with the concepts of staying on the right side of the road and following road signs and rules. Remind me to stay off the streets when they start driving!!! Delaney made a trip to the dentist yesterday to have 2 of 4 baby teeth extracted. Her mouth is so crowded with adult teeth that they are trying to make some room. She did awesome and not a tear was shed. Braces are definately in her future. Thankfully we have 2 dental plans!!! That brings me up to today.....ahh summer! The temperature soared to 32 degrees and Jolanda and I took the little girls to the water park for the morning. We sat, talked, and soaked up the sun. (oh yes, and also watched the girls splash and play.) It is so nice to have Jolanda back here in Summerland!! I took some cute pictures and hope Jolanda doesn't mind me sharing the ones of Tessa.

Ballet Beauty

This long weekend has been a busy one. Steve and I have both been off which has been nice. He has done some yard work in our never ending landscape plan and one flower bed is starting to look real nice. We have celebrated 3 birthdays...first Amy turned 3, then Steve turned??, and today the girls are at Rachel's 6th birthday. The highlight of the weekend for Delaney has been her ballet performances in Penticton. Ballet Kelowna was in Penticton on Sunday and Delaney's ballet class was invited to be one of the groups to perform. Rehearsal was Saturday afternoon with 2 performances Sunday one at 2pm and the other at 730pm. Needless to say last night was a late one. Her group did awesome and were the youngest ones to dance. Her group has been dancing together since they were just 3yrs old and they all are mature beyond their years. It was a great experience to dance on a larger stage and to observe the professional dancers do their dances. I took these few photos before we left yesterday. She is a beauty if I do say so myself.

Happy Mother's Day!

I recently came across a blog of a mom of triplets who's posts I have really enjoyed. One of her recent posts was a definition of motherhood. I don't know if she wrote it or found it somewhere but here it is.....
Motherhood Is...
A ministry that requires life-altering sacrifice.
A kinship with women that cannot be described, only experienced.
The toughest job you'll ever have.
Challenging but rewarding.
Simultaneously humbling, exhausting, frightening and fufilling.
Heart-wrenching,
Entertaining,
Overwhelming.
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
