Every July, the Berekoff's and Mckelvey's head to Bear Creek camping. We usually go mid July but this year my holidays fell at the beginning of the month so we were there a week early. I was concerned when I made the reservation in April that being a week early the weather may not be so hot. Well, stinkin' hot it was. We have become very good rain weather campers so it was such a treat this year to be able to spend every day down at the beach. We were quite a sight! Wagon, beach toys, and every floatie you could imagine. It was hard to keep us contained. On Sunday, my Dad and Connie came to visit. Dad brought his aluminum fishing boat and I could tell he was excited to get out on the lake with the kids. Cory and Avery were first up and came back 30 min later empty handed. Rachel and Delaney were next up and while they were out the wind and waves came up. They were just about to come in, reeling their rods, when they spotted it, a FISH!!! Turned out to be a 2lb rainbow trout. The look on Delaney's face when they arrived on shore was priceless. I don't know who was happier, Grandpa or Delaney. The excitement on the beach was contagious as all the little kids came to see what was in the bucket. Delaney later wrote in her journal that "I felt like I was famous!" Of course the moment was captured in pictures! The fish was cleaned and cooked up for supper that night. Delaney ate some which surprised me. The kids had a blast camping and Delaney was in tears the day we had to leave. What a difference a year makes with the ages of the kids. Anita and I actually read novels and relaxed. The kids were excellent and played so well, and looked after each other. I can't wait for August when we go to Christina lake.
